Amble Development Trust

Formed as a Limited Company in 1994, in response to locally identified issues highlighted through the Civic Trust Regeneration Study, the Trust became a registered charity in late 1995.

The principle mission and objective of the Trust is to regenerate the former coal mining town of Amble by taking a lead in most aspects of economic, social and community regeneration in partnership with other agencies. The aim is to provide the conditions and infrastructure for the restoration of community self-confidence, self esteem and economic prosperity.

The Trust's membership currently exceeds five hundred, most of whom are local residents, with a management committee of fourteen trustees. Eight of the trustees are drawn from the membership. Other trustees include councillors representing the town, district and county, a Harbour Commissioner, two Amble business representatives and an Amble's Chruches Together representative.

The Trust has a paid staff of ten based at The Fourways in Amble. The staff make up the operational core of the Trust which is led by Executive Director, David Milburn.
