Fourways 2 has won the prestigious Judges' Gem Landmark Award in a recent awards ceremony.
The Journal Landmark Awards, awards building projects which in their view demonstrates building excellence.
The Journal, together with law firm Watson Burton and sponsored by Allied Irish Bank (GB) aims to reward the work of those within the building industry as well as spotlighting those initiatives and developments, which represent the very best in concept, design and construction. |
Richard Freeman Wallace, head of property at Watson Burton, said: "The Landmark awards focus on the people at the sharp end - contractors, architects and developers."
The Journal Landmark Awards, which are also sponsored by Allied Irish Bank (GB), were instituted in 2004 and have seen some of the most iconic buildings in the North East recognised for their contribution to the landscape.
GVA Lamb and Edge is letting agent for the scheme. Jane Stonehouse, GVA Lamb and Edge associate, said: "This is such a high profile, attractive building it will be a strong choice for small and growing enterprises that need contemporary offices with excellent meeting room and conference space in a central location."
Fourways 2 is owned and managed by Amble Development Trust and is funded by One North East, Northumberland Strategic Partnership, the Northern Rock Foundation, Alnwick District Council, European Regional Development Fund and the government's Adventure Capital Fund.
At the same time, a new tenant took up residence in one of the iconic building's offices. Sullivan Associates Chartered Building Surveyors, has taken space in the £1.3m scheme which was officially opened this September.
The three-storey building was designed by architects Jane Darbyshire & David Kendall to offer a modern town centre scheme with conferencing and meeting rooms as well as open plan and cellular offices.
Richard Sullivan saw the details of the new building, with rents at £12 per sq ft, and decided to move his four-year-old company.
He said: "It is professional, modern, central and excellent for client meetings. I have moved the business from my home in Warkworth and the new location is an ideal base to serve customers throughout Northumberland.
"Much of my work is Northumberland-based, and being part of the community helps in getting known and recognised as a business within the county."
