Welcome to Amble Development Trust's Website

The historic port of Amble, 'the friendliest port', occupies a superb waterfront setting amidst some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in Great Britain. The town is located on the River Coquet estuary and is the southern gateway to Northumberland's AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Coastline.

Amble has a thriving local community and is now enjoying increasing popularity as a tourist centre and a pleasant business location with good links to the rest of the country.

Amble Development Trust has been set up specifically to improve and develop Amble and has done so in many different ways, since its inception in 1994.

Amble 2020

A framework for developing Amble as a thriving and vibrant coastal town over the next decade has been mapped out in a newly published report. Partners Amble Development Trust, the Town Council, the local Business Club, and Warkworth Harbour Commissioners have outlined in the report how a new wave of regeneration proposals can be developed to take the town in a fresh direction creating jobs, businesses, tourism, marine, and leisure opportunities.

Conferencing at The Trust

The Trust has recently moved into its new building at Fourways 2 and with this movement is now able to offer splendid state of the art facilities for meetings and conferencing. Please follow the link to find out more.


Working through BiTC Amble Development Trust became highly involved in a National fishing project based in North Shields. The project was concerned with the long term sustainability of local fishing communitites.

Locality and Federation of Northumberland Development Trusts (FoNDT)

Amble Development Trust is a proud and active member of Locality (Development Trust's Association) and FoNDT. Being a member of these organisations allows us to learn from one another and work effectively.
